A Zeljko Brkic own goal had handed the away side the lead until Antonio Di Natale levelled from the spot just before the break.

Fiorentina had been in control of the game for the opening 20 minutes, and when Juan Guillermo Cuadrado was brought down thirty yards from goal which provided the perfect opportunity for Borja Valero to whip in a teasing ball.

Gonzalo Rodriguez rose above the Zebrette defence to meet Valero’s cross and fire his header off the underside of the bar. The ball ricocheted down off the woodwork finding the back of the unfortunate Brkic’s head to roll tantalisingly over the line.

On the stroke off half time Udinese were handed a lifeline when Giulio Migliaccio clumsily brought down Maurizio Domizzi inside the area. Di Natale duly converted to send the sides in level at the break.

Udinese completed their comeback in the second half again thanks to their talisman Di Natale. The veteran striker combined with Andrea Lazzari and put the home side into the lead with a neat finish.

Things went from bad to worse for La Viola moments later as the Zebrette stretched their lead. In what was a horrendous day for goalkeepers at the Stadio Friuli, Norberto Neto made a enormous error which Luis Muriel managed to capitalise upon to the delight of the home fans.

Dusan Basta could have made it four for Udinese as he cantered forward as the Fiorentina back-line just sat off him. The defender surged into the area but put his effort just wide.

Udinese held on to their two goal advantage to secure a important victory over strong opposition.
